Influence of resistance exercise of different intensities on state anxiety and blood pressure
Article Abstract:
Intense resistance exercise (RE) at 50% one repetition maximum (1RM) is found in a study to be associated with immediate reduction in vigor and with significant decrease in state anxiety (SA) 180 min afterward. Significant increase in systolic blood pressure was found after the 80% 1RM condition only. A study has been made of selected psychobiological responses to acute bouts of resistance exercise (RE) of different intensities. Vigorous activity seems to be less attractive in the longer term for some parts of the population, and less intensive bouts of resistance exercise seem to be associated with more adherence. Valuable implications related to exercise may be found in results of this research.

Cardiovascular limitations in chronic pulmonary disease
Article Abstract:
This article examines the effects of chronic pulmonary disease on cardiovascular function. Changes in heart structure and pulmonary circulation due to chronic pulmonary disease is often associated with pronounced cardiovascular impairment but many ambulatory patients can maintain cardiac output during rest and exercise due to interventions that facilitate blood flow.

Can relaxation lower metaboreflex-mediated blood pressure elevations?
Article Abstract:
Results indicate that relaxation cannot lower reflex increases in blood pressure due to a peripheral metabolic stimulus. However, data do show that relaxation ordinarily influences cardiovascular regulation and lowers heart rate and mean blood pressure.
