Injury rates in house league, select, and representative youth ice hockey
Article Abstract:
The injury rates for age groups 4 to 18 years and different levels of competition in a youth ice hockey program over two seasons was determined along with the effect of body checking on injury rates among these youths. Findings suggest that the introduction of body checking at age 9 to competitive youth hockey causes an immediate but relatively short-term increase in injury rates, indicating that the period of adjustment that accompanies body checking should be taken into account when determining the age at which body checking is introduced.

Influence of ball velocity, attention, and age on response time for a stimulated catch
Article Abstract:
Research examines an effectivemeans to reduce the chances of injury in a game of baseball as measured by response time for a simulated catch. Results show that if the exit-velocities in a competition play exeeds that of calculated maximum exit-velocities for the age group of players, modifications to the game are called for to reduce the actual exit-velocities to avoid chances of injury occurrence.

Knee strength variability between individuals across ranges of motion and hip angles
Article Abstract:
Knee strength variability between individuals has been studied across hip angles and ranges of motion. Findings indicate that influences of hip angle, starting knee angle and individual differences on isokinetic knee extension strength must be taken into consideration to be sure that moments found by isokinetic testing reflect the general strength capabilities of a subject accurately.
