Japanese homeboys win Suzuka 8-hour

The 1997 Suzuka 8-hour endurance test held in Japan was participated in by the top four Japanese motorcycles makers. Tohru Ukawa, with his Honda sportbike, won the individual race after 186 laps while the team of Doug Polen and Peter Goddard took the World Endurance Championship.

Honda's 500cc V-Twin starts season strong

Honda's new, lightweight 500cc V-Twin has proven its superiority over V-Fours when Honda factory rider Tadayuki Okada scored pole position in the opening round at Shah Alam in Malaysia. He also twice clinched the lead over World Champion Mike Doohan in his first 500 race.
