A road test performance of KTM 525 SMC, with reference to its chassis, transmission, handling, stability, and repair and maintenance costs is described. The KTM 525 SMC, priced at dollar 7298, has an excellent chassis with very good handling and the broad spread of power makes for nearly effortless roosting, but the motocross-derived, close-ratio four-speed transmission is a disadvantage.

A road test performance of JJP Yamaha YZF-R1, with reference to its engine, transmission, suspension, tires, performance and fuel mileage is described. The JJP Yamaha YZF-R1 priced at US$ 38,900 develops power of 161.9 bhp at 12,025 rpm, does 0-100 mph in 2.7 sec, and has a top speed of 188 mph and a low fuel average of 34 mpg.
