The Kanter 66 is a design for a perfectly balanced ketch large enough to carry two or three couples. The boat's narrow beam and moderate weight should allow it to sail at its hull speed of 9 3/4 knots. It has a convenient engine room and integral tanks.

Zimmerman Marine completed the Chanty boat after four years of planning and actual construction. The boat was built using wooden construction materials such as red cedar veneer for the diagonal and teak veneer over plywood for the deck.
