A boy and his father fished for native brook trout in a Massachusetts brook surrounded by a swamp. They never saw evidence of other fishermen there. The trout were often too small to keep, but the trip became an annual ritual that last into the boy's adulthood.

The master angler

A man describes how a blue heron caught seven trout in 20 minutes in a pool known as Aggravation Pool because of the difficulty it causes human fishers. One heron was able to catch and eat several fish before a nearby human fisher was able to catch any.

Gift trout
Article Abstract:
A New England fisherman recalls how much he enjoyed walks beside streams in early spring, despite laws that forbade him from fishing. When these laws were changed, he was able to catch a lone trout with a Pheasant Tail Nymph as bait.
