Lower-extremity gait kinematics on slippery surfaces in construction worksites
Article Abstract:
The lower-extremity kinematics while walking on potentially slippery surfaces in simulated construction worksite environment is studied. The results show that strategies which included stance and stride time, shortened stride length, decreased propagation speed and gentle heel stride were used to prevent slips and it was also seen that the ankle joint played an important role in the adaptation strategy.

Biomechanics of the unstable ankle joint and clinical implications
Article Abstract:
Impairment of ankle proprioception rather than mechanical instability causes chronic functional instability in the ankle joint. According to biomechanical analysis, lateral ligament integrity supports the ankle and maintains rotational stability. Ankle injury and lack of complete healing promotes ankle instability. The physiology of instability with and without apparent symptoms is discussed.
