Different types of cross-country runners' moms are parodied. There is the scantily clad mom, the runner-garbed mom, the nurse mom and the cheerleading mom. Their sons may all dress alike, look alike and choose the same favorite subjects but their moms are all different.

An Italian grandmother of 78 advised her young and athletic grandson not to run, read articles that warned of the dangers of running and told him that he was looking thin after he continued to do so. She continued to admonish him after he became an adult.
