Michigan's Nordhouse Dunes

The 3,450-acre Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area is on the shores of Lake Michigan amidst the Huron-Manistee National Forest. Some of the dunes exceed 20 ft in height, and beach areas are good spots for bird and wildlife viewing. Behind the dunes are acres of forested land.

Maine's Bigelow Preserve

Western Maine boasts a spectacular section of the Appalachian Trail which traverses 50 miles of rugged terrain from the Saddleback Range to the Bigelow Range. There are great views, quiet forests, and abundant flora and fauna, including 60 species of birds.
