Freshwater fisherman have practiced catch-and-release methods for years, assuring a plentiful supply of fish. But catch-and-release has not caught on with salt water fisherman, and the decline in fish populations is the result.

Fishermen are encouraged to catch-and-release fish they are not going to eat, but saltwater fish are not caught and released as often as freshwater fish. Steps should be taken to conserve saltwater fish, so as not to deplete their numbers.
