Men and women with high cholesterol lowered their total cholesterol by 4.7% and their LDL cholesterol by 6.7% by taking 5.1 grams of the soluble fiber psylium twice a day with meals for a 6-month period. The psylium did not seem to interfere with the absorption of vitamins or minerals.
