Nutritional practices of elite female surfers during training and competition
Article Abstract:
Research reveals that elite female surfers need more information on nutrition and its physiological effects. Subjects were observed while training and competing. Energy intakes were sublevel, as were carbohydrate and zinc. Although carbohydrate intakes increased during training, they were derived primarily from confectionery consumption. While this contributed to energy intake, the nutrient value remained below recommended requirements.
