Polluting for pleasure
Article Abstract:
The new EPA rules regulating hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide emissions from two-stroke engines in outboards and personal watercraft have met with criticisms from scientists and others. But the marine industry is taking steps to reduce pollution. Newly designed outboard motors are discussed.

Seven cases of individuals or groups making heroic efforts on behalf of the environment are briefly profiled. Alvin and Marilyn Levett of West Bloomfield, MI, videotaped Princess Cruise Lines crewmen illegally dumping trash into the sea. The cruise lines was fined $500,000.
