Bingham was hired to write his monthly RW column, 'Penguin's Chronicle' after the editors saw his work on the Internet. An over-50 runner, John empathizes with those runners who mainly see the back of the other runners. He believe in the power of dreams in spite of struggle and limitations.

Members of the staff of Runner's World magazine, inspired by their efforts in a marathon 18 months earlier, entered the 1996 Dallas White Rock Marathon. The Pacing Team set admirable times in the race, but more importantly the marathon was one of the most enjoyable in memory.
