The 1996 trials for the men's Olympic Marathon Race was held Feb 17, 1996 in Charlotte, NC. Runner-up to Kempainen's time of 2:12:45 was Mark Coogan with 2:13:05 and Keith Brantly with 2:13:22. Highlights of the trials are described.
