Mountain lion attacks on humans have been increasing but are still rare. There were more mountain lion attacks in North America from 1975 to 1995 than there were from 1910 to 1975, but there have only been 14 deaths recorded since 1890. Young lions can be intimidated, but adults are more confident.

Back from the brink
Article Abstract:
The Kekekabic Trail in northeastern Minnesota was on the verge of disappearing due to neglect, when hiker Martin Kubik formed the Kekekabic Trail Club to help save it. Crews began work in Apr 1990 clearing away fallen trees, and soon the trail was restored.

Hell on earth
Article Abstract:
Several scenic locations where people can enjoy boating and hiking have some terrible names, such as Hells Half Acre, Huggins Hell, Hell Hole and Devil's Kitchen. A trip to Hells Canyon, which is on the border of Oregon and Idaho, is described.
