Self-efficacy and causal attributions as mediators of perceptions of psychological momentum
Article Abstract:
The role of self-efficacy and causal attributions in athletic psychological momentum and sports performance was studied. Male subjects joined in a basketball free throw shooting contest but the outcomes were controlled.A questionaire was used to evaluate psychological momentum, self-efficacy and causal dimensions after every contest. Analysis indicated that awareness of psychological momentum varied with success or failure and is independent of self-efficacy. On the other hand self-efficacy was unaffected if attributions were developed. Performance was also noted to improve with failure.

Commentary to Kimiecik
Article Abstract:
Kimiecik's report on the exercise behavior of corporate employees is evaluated. Analysis of the study show that his research results are very much similar to the results of former studies and that they do not override previousstudies which compare theories. Furthermore, his proposal of theoretical integration is only possible through the comparison and pitting of theories against one other.
