Anorexia is an eating disorder, which is not considered by the insurance companies. According to the Eating Disorders Coalition (CEDC), the sufferers need at least four to six weeks of around the clock care, however advocacy organizations, therapists and treatment centers are pressing for the passage of Mental Health Equitable Treatment Act to be considered by the insurance companies along with the eating disorders treatment.

The physician are dropping high risk procedures such as delivering babies or relocating to states where insurance is still affordable or quitting the job due to rising malpractice insurance costs. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) shows that 30 percent of OB-GYNS have stopped delivering babies. The insurance companies are increasing their rates to cover the under priced premiums.
