Shoreline: Sailing with gentle giants

The maiden voyage of research and education vessel Song of the Whale on June 29, 2004 in the frigid North Atlantic waters off Iceland is described. The 69-foot, high-tech sailboat was built for the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to protect whales through state-of-the-art research, education and public awareness activities.
