People can avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and blackflies, the most common pests, by wearing loose clothing and using the insect repellent N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET). People should avoid swatting at insects such as horseflies and bees because this encourages them to sting or bite.

Shotgunners' stockpiling has created a primer panic

A rumor that the Clinton Administration would legislate manufacturers to put a shelf life into primers has caused panic. There is a shortage in primers due to shooters stockpiling for primers. The passage of the Brady Bill has further added to the panic.
