Personal watercrafts (PWCs) are posing a threat to sailors and boaters especially if their operators lack sufficient nautical and navigating experience. The PWC industry should impose educational requirements for PWC operators, and require safety equipment for the crafts and their riders.

Mainsails should be well-maintained for these to function more effectively. When adjusting the mainsail belly, the boom vang should be given due attention. Strapping the main boom full forward during motoring allows the backwards belly to make the sailboat go faster than the wind.
