The military's Pattern for Staying Alive (PFSA) offers survival guidelines for hunters and fishers. The PFSA involves making decisions regarding conditions such as pain, fatigue and hunger, as well as skills such as fire building, signal use and first aid. Two scenarios are discussed.

A fishing trip to Cannon Island is described. The Island, in the northeast corner of Honduras, is the location of the Cannon Island Fishing Club and features great fishing on the Brus Lagoon. The Lagoon has an ample supply of snook, snappers, tarpon, and other fish.

Many fishing boats come equipped with deficient rod racks. Plans and installation tips for horizontal, under-the-gunwale racks, which are feasible on all but the smallest boats, are given.
