North Cascades National Park covers 505,000 acres and has many pristine trails and abundant wildlife such as grizzly bears and timber wolves. A backpacker describes his week-long journey in the region. He encountered plenty of rain and snow, but also beautiful vistas and campsites.

A man describes a backpacking trip he and two companions took in the Hyder region of Tongass National Forest in Alaska. The backpackers forded the Salmon River, then hiked through dense stands of alder to reach a dilapidated cabin. Later they hiked to Chickamin Glacier.
