Sailor Dave Martin transformed his small coastal boat into a dependable ocean cruiser when he decided he wanted to sail the world in 1985. He has already used the boat on his seven-year circumnavigation which covered 45,000 miles. Step-by-step account of how the boat was reconstructed is given.

A cruising sailor describes how his boat 'Jester' was abandoned and lost in bad weather during its 14th trans-Atlantic crossing in 1988. A new 'Jester' was built with the aid of the Jester Trust and sailed in the 1992 Europe 1-STAR single-handed trans-Atlantic race.
