The coast of Maine
Article Abstract:
Maine offers the best isolated anchorages for sailors. The coast is well charted and the coastline has dramatic granite ledges and rich forests. Dolphins, seals, whales, osprey and other animals are visible while fresh seafood are readily available. However, cruisers should learn to be self-sufficient.

The inside story
Article Abstract:
Maine has inside passages which makes cruising less risky for sailors. These five backwater inland passages offer less risky and nearly fog-free cruises down 200 miles of Maine's coastline. Cruisers should watch out for tidal heights but sailing is easier with a boat having a mast height of 45 ft.
