A man gets a job as a ski lift operator and finds that the job is much more demanding than he was led to believe. The man finds that lift operators work eight-hour days and six days a week during ski seasons that can last up to half a year. The heavy demands cause him to last only two days on the job.

An American describes skiing in Bolivia at 17,130 ft above sea level. Leaving the capital city La Paz, he was driven up the glacier where an uncomfortable, rickety lift, and battered skis awaited him. He describes the lift rides, and the skiing at the worst ski area in the world.
