The national forest sellout
Article Abstract:
The National Forest Service has turned over land to several Indian tribes because of land disputes. Some of the transactions are valid, but an analysis of the proposed transfer of 400,000 acres for the Navajo and Hopi Indians yields several questions. Congressional approval has not been granted.

Forest finaglers

Forestry officials have been victims of political harassment. The US Forest Service's John Mumma was essentially forced to retire, and the National Park Service' Loretta Mintzmyer was transferred because of a refusal to break the law or disregard policy.
