The new rule permitting professional cyclists to participate in the Atlanta Olympics will enhance public interest in cycling but adversely affect the sponsorship of young amateur cyclists. Meanwhile, the Cyclists International Union is developing a world championship race exclusively for amateurs.

In-line skating is similar to cycling since it develops leg and calf muscles, and provides long periods of sustained aerobic exercise. In-line skating beginners should start with three 15-minute sessions and then gradually add 30 minutes each time. A discussion of skate types is included.
