The herb echinacea was widely used in the US during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but was gradually replaced by antibiotics. However, since the 1970s, the herb has become popular as a remedy for the flu, colds and other infections. Enchinacea is a group of plants, including the purple coneflower.
