Savage Arms, founded in 1895, was highly successful in the 1940s. The company filed for bankruptcy in the 1980s after having problems with labor, management and changing markets. The company turned itself around through measures such as reducing the product line and adding new machinery.

The principles on which democracy rests can not be compromised. One principle behind US democracy is the right of the public to bear arms. Attempts at gun control only foster contempt for the law and result in a more lawless society.
