Torrence is considered the world's foremost woman sprinter but she is not yet ready to call herself the world's fastest woman. She has matured in her skill as a sprinter and has a fuller understanding of what competition means to athletes like herself and her close rival Merlene Ottey of Jamaica.

Lewis, 35, will compete in the 100 meters, the 4 X 100 relay, and the long jump in the 1996 summer Olympics, his last Olympics. Although Lewis has won 8 Olympic Gold Medals and 8 World Championships gold medals, few people besides Lewis himself believe he can win the 100-meter in the Olympics.
