The roots of such terms as 'drive by' and 'blow a hole' as used by candidates Bill Clinton, Albert Gore Jr., and Bob Dole are discussed. Clinton mistakenly referred to a 'drive-by pregnancy' when he meant to call the shortened maternity hospital stays 'drive by deliveries.'
