Tying knots in high-modulus line, a risky proposition
Article Abstract:
Failures in rigging are increasing as modern fibre ropes do not work with some traditional knots. The new high-modulus ropes can weaken huge amounts when put in a bowline or a reef knot, a splice in the rope will retain most of the strength.
