Meryle Thompson along with the crew discussed with Aussie sailors their intention to take the southern route from Australia's east coast to Fremantle, on its west coast, aboard Fallado, their 44-foot cruising catamaran. The crew aboard Fallado found favorable conditions to sail east to west along Australia's southern coast.

Ocean explorer, sailing enthusiast, sea-faring pioneer could all describe New Zealander David Lewis. The yachtsman began sailing in the 1960's and has covered much of the world and has a special fondness for the Pacific Islands. His life and times are documented in the autobiography, Shapes on the Wind.

Blakexpeditions off to Antarctic

New Zealander Sir Peter Blake headed the Cousteau Society expeditions and has started his own venture called Blakexpeditions and is planning to aid in protecting the world's oceans and ocean life. Blake has steered his 130-foot research vessel to Antarctica to monitor Southern Ocean waters.
