Sunshine is the powerful magnet that draws Seattle skiers who have not seen sunshine in months to Mission Ridge. Mission Ridge is sometimes called a Cascadian Sun Valley, which aside from the weather offers ample swaths of gracefully undulating intermediate terrain, along with enough glades and powder stashes.

Mt Baker's heavy average annual snowfall has earned the Washington ski area a devoted following among skiers and snowboarders.In 1998-99 the snowfall was almost 100 ft, a world record for snowfall in a single year.
