Weather and Sea: How a mirage is formed

A slight temperature difference is enough to bend the light due to which mirages are usually formed and inferior mirages are seen more often during the warmer months when there is a layer of warm air under cooler air. Mirages are deceptive and an experienced sailor must learn to spot one instantly.
