Weird water: is a 2,000-mile "garden hose" the answer to California's lack of H2O?

California's need for water has grown as its population has increased and the drought has continued. Plans for importing water have included constructing a pipeline from Alaska and towing icebergs. These have been scrapped as impractical, but a plan to siphon water from British Columbia is still being considered.

Forget the canoe: with a body board, you can ride the rapids just like a trout
Article Abstract:
Bob Carlson designed a body board for white water river rafting. This board has better buoyancy than ocean body boards. The sport is fun, but it is not for those without river rafting experience and strong swimming skills. An address is given for those interested.

California's Smith River
Article Abstract:
The Smith River, just south of the Oregon border, has been designated a National Wild and Scenic River. The area is beautiful, with giant redwoods and excellent trout and salmon fishing. The best way to enjoy the river is by boat or raft.
