Why Johnny won't ride: how can we get kids back on bikes? Two recent developments may supply the answers

Twin developments are seen to help get more children interested in cycling. These are the focus of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on inactivity, which promotes walking and biking as healthy alternatives to riding, and the recruitment of children from 10-16 to a program aimed at making communities safer for cycling.

Miguel Indurain and other champion cyclists find that floating bicycle pedals allow up to 20 degrees of rotation between foot and pedal. Tests show the pedals are helpful in easing knee pain, and no loss of power is reported.
