Women players at the Australian Open are disappointed over the unequal prize money in the men's and women's divisions. The prize money for men is now $390,000 more than for the women, after ten years when it was equal. Tennis Australia says women players sell fewer tickets and have lower TV ratings.

Women's professional tennis has dramatically changed over the years. Young upcoming stars such as Martina Hingis, Anna Kournikova and Venus Williams should take time to learn the game's history. They are also advised to play in 18 tournaments as opposed to the current 14 events.

The current debate in professional tennis is whether big and powerful serves are ruining the game. The debate does not take into account that the fastest points are played on grass, a surface that is only played on four weeks a year.
