California's Ishi Wilderness

The 41,000-acre Ishi Wilderness area is south of Lassen Park in Northern California. It has a 40-mile trail system suitable for backpacking. Wildlife in the region includes eagles, falcons, deer and Chinook salmon. Spring and fall are the best times to visit.
