Wimbledon: Sampras, Graf survive among the fit

Grueling heat and asphalt-like grass seemed to favor the fit at Wimbledon this year, but the accolades went to two injured players. Pete Sampras's shoulder and Steffi Graf's foot notwithstanding, they outplayed the competition and won the men's and women's singles titles, respectively.

Victorious Sampras rides hot streak into '92

Pete Sampras won the 1991 Association of Tennis Professionals Tour World Championship tennis tournament. Jim Courier was runner-up. Sampras won four titles in nine events during the second half of 1991.
