Cast metal parts have been previously thought to be the weakest compared to machined and forged materials. This was due to microscopic defects and cracks which propagate when the material is subjected to stress. New technologies have resulted in defect-free and, therefore, much stronger castings.

Majority of motorcyclists prefer big, mildly-tuned engines that deliver torque across a wide band. Riding is easier and much more enjoyable when the motorcyclist does not have to act like a powerplant manager.
