A comparison of the racing motorcycles Yamaha WR400F and the KTM 300E/XC shows that both bikes can handle motocross conditions. The WR400F features a spark arrestor, odometer and a steel rear sprocket. The 300E/XC has a more adjustable powervalve and a tool-less air-filter access than the WR400F.

Cafe-racing enthusiasts of the '50s and '60s often built hybrid motorcycles which were faster and more powerful than their production counterparts. One of the best of these hybrids was the Norvin, a motorcycle which mated a powerful Vincent engine with a light Norton frame.
