Car driver and bicyclist behavior at bicycle crossings under different priority regulations
Article Abstract:
The effects of changes implemented on the Finnish Traffic Code on drivers' and cyclists' behavior and knowledge is examined. Video recordings and test cyclists were used to measure behavior. The results of the study showed that changes in priority rules affected road user behavior and knowledge. This was noted especially in situations where the formal change in the rule did not apply. Thus, road users' behavior at bicycle crossings is dependent on the location of the crossings and on movement behavior.
