Experts disagree on propeller issue
Article Abstract:
Lloyd's Register/ Ocean Shipping Consultants argue that a propeller putting over 90MW into water will have a blade area ratio greater than one, which makes it more sensitive to cavitations but the experts argue that sensitivity is not a direct function of blade area ratio. The ship designers and propeller manufacturers doubt whether power attainment or propeller performance is an obstacle to development.
