Health and safety training in a sample of open-shop construction companies

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates safety and health training programs for nonunion construction workers. The authors, maintaining construction has the third highest death rate compared with other industries, examined health and training programs and found that even though most contractors provided training they did not evaluate its effectiveness in terms of accident reductions and increased job satisfaction and productivity.

The "Goldilocks model" of overtime in construction: not too much, not too little, but just right

Article Abstract:

Since there is not much evidence on the relationship between overtime and adverse health effects of construction workers, a model was developed which included work themes like the organization, reasons for selecting overtime and the effects of overtime. Many recommendations were implemented to understand the potential effects of too much overtime.

Evalution of a safety training program in three food service companies

Article Abstract:

The outcome measures for safety training effectiveness is discussed. It is argued that although safety training leads to greater knowledge and in some cases, reduced occupational injuries, the influence of mediating variables remains to be explained.
