Largest combi is built for safety

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the largest combi ferry built by Schichau Seebeckwerfft, boasts of safety designs that satisfies stability standards. Safety precautions, which include increased free board and additional fore and aft bridge, were added to prevent further ferryboat mishap. The vessel, which also contains an integrated navigation system, speed, log and echo sounder and three vehicle decks, will operate betwen Rostock, Germany and Trellborg, Sweden.

Bazan's civilian contracts

State Spanish shipbuilder Bazan, which specializes in military vessels, has also ventured in the manufacture of civilian crafts. Its San Fernando shipyard offers four high-speed boats such as monohulls and catamarans. The Mestral, Serval, and Alhambra models, which are all monohulls, range from 95m to 125m and are powered by diesel engines. The B60 catamaran model, which measures 77 meters, is gas powered and has a maximum speed of 57 knots.
