The German shipbuilding industry continued operations even after the country's biggest shipbuilder, Bremer Vulkan Verbund, went bankrupt in May 1996. Kiel-based HDW continued building large container ships for Zim, while Hamburg-based Blohm + Voss introduced a new price strategy in ship repair. Meyer Werft of Papenburg has begun working on its first cruise ship for Asia, while MSG has delivered its first shipment of four feeder for China.
