Tour/Charter operators find silver linings in downturn

Tour and charter operators have modified their business strategies by involving in new markets and improving customer services, to compensate the downturn and economic insecurity experienced by the industry after the September 11, 2001 attacks. The tactics like targeting specific clientele, telemarketing and short-notice reservations adopted by various tour and charter operators to endure and expand their business are discussed.

Hurricane prompts community outreach by public, private operators

Lee County Transit (LeeTran), Escot Bus Lines, LYNX, Mears Transportation provided public services to the residents of southwest and central Florida, who were hit by Hurricane Charley in August. The problems that were faced by these transporters are presented.
