Ultimate roro newbuilding from Flensberg
Article Abstract:
The first unit in new five-ship series of roro ferries ordered by the Danish ferry operator DFDS laid by German ship-yard of Flensberg is scheduled for delivery and is named Tor magnolia. DFDS views that their new design represents a unique solution in terms of optimum cargo space, high service speed, quick loading and discharge capability, good sea keeping qualities and low fuel consumption.

A brief account of some of the serious breakdowns that have occurred due to the use of imitation parts in shipbuilding have been given. To create an increased awareness and address the problem and damage caused by use of imitation machinery parts, the Japanese Marine Equipment Association (JSMEA) is holding an open seminar at SMM 2004 on measures that need to be taken.
